Investment Consultant

Remote - Atlanta, GA

Location: Hybrid (Atlanta, GA or Washington, DC Preferred)

What We Do:

Gridline provides access to top-tier alternative investments, creating an efficient way to gain diversified exposure to non-public assets with lower capital minimums, transparent fees, and greater liquidity.

While the traditional investing process is cumbersome, manual, and inefficient, we are redeveloping the entire system from the ground up, building a technology-first approach that makes it simple to discover, deploy and manage alternative investments.

Just as other platforms have revolutionized the financial industry (payments, lending, trading, etc), we are building the on-ramp for new journeys into alternatives by reducing complexity and putting usability at the core of our platform.

Who We Are:

Our team collectively brings decades of experience across the technology and investing landscape, and are looking to continue our growth alongside people that:

  • Make decisions based on data and analytical insights with a focus on delivering long term value
  • Think strategically, and can articulate what they are (and are not) trying to accomplish
  • Take calculated risks, are open to possible failure, and continuously make progress
  • Are passionate about what we’re building and seek to constantly learn
  • Operate with a high degree of candor, authenticity, and transparency

About the Role:

We are seeking an Investment Consultant to join our young and growing team serving a diverse range of clients, including independent financial advisors, single-family offices, and endowments and foundations. In this advisory-focused role, you will support the buildout of client private investment programs, contribute to fund manager research, and provide high-quality client service and reporting.

You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively across the organization, including with business development professionals, product leaders building the next generation platform for alternatives, and top management. Success in the role will be based on effective communication across teams, insightful analysis, private markets expertise, strong presentation skills to private clients, and contribution to an inclusive culture. We encourage continuous learning, proactive problem-solving, and a strong sense of ethics in all client engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Support

  • Build proposals for custom private client portfolios that meet risk, return, and diversification objectives
  • Collaborate with business development to communicate our value proposition to clients through in person presentations, written communication, and timely responses to questions
  • Represent the firm at industry events, roadshows, and conferences with professionalism and intellectual heft
  • Serve as a subject-matter-expert on Gridline diligence process – incorporating our “four principles” — People, Process, Performance and Philosophy
  • Regularly update investors on performance, including industry benchmarking, qualitative analysis, and performance breakdowns

Due Diligence & Research

  • Source promising investment managers across buyout, venture, private credit, and real assets from industry peers, placement agents, outbound thematic research, and more
  • Track managers over time and manage a pipeline of investment opportunities
  • Lead or support meetings with investment managers, with the goals of ascertaining manager skill and representing Gridline effectively to potential partners
  • Use quantitative measures to separate good and great managers, and effectively communicate the results of those measurements to internal and external stakeholders
  • Produce fully fleshed out investment recommendations, reports, and research pieces for internal and public consumption
  • Collaborate with investment and product teams in negotiating fees, capacity, etc. with external managers and pricing/economic activities related to Gridline’s investment vehicles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CFA, or CAIA a plus (or working towards such credentials)
  • 3–5+ years of experience in investment consulting, manager research, private portfolio construction, private equity, investment banking, investment advisory, or related fields
  • Experience gained at a fund-of-funds, OCIO, Family Office, or Multi-Family Office a plus
  • Record of drafting materials for and actively communicating in client-facing meetings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex investment topics clearly to varied audiences
  • Demonstrated proficiency in financial analysis and modeling; private markets experience preferred and familiarity with PitchBook, Cobalt, or Prequin ideal
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and collegial team player capable of completing tasks independently and filling multiple roles
